‘Vice President Jejomar C. Binay has pledged on Monday to prioritize poverty alleviation and uplifting the lives of Filipinos, particularly in Negros Oriental which is considered the poorest province in Central Visayas under his administration.
Negros Oriental has a poverty incidence of 43.9 percent, according to the National Anti-Poverty Commission. The Vice President is currently visiting the province.
“Ang laban sa kahirapan, kawalan ng trabaho at gutom ang mga isyu na kailangang harapin sa 2016. Kung kami sa United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) ang papalaring mamuno, makakaasa kayo na sa aming pamamahala, ang pag-unlad at pag-angat ng buhay ay matatamasa ng lahat,” he added.
Binay said his administration will continue the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) and improve it to ensure better and efficient services.
Around 71,537 families in the province are beneficiaries of the 4Ps program.
“Pagtutuunan din natin ng pansin ang mga job generating sectors gaya ng agriculture, tourism, manufacturing, atbp., upang magkaroon ng disenteng trabaho ang ating mga kababayan,” he added.
While in Negros, Binay visited the Ong Che Tee Bacong High School. He also met with sectoral groups, senior citizens and residents of Dauin, Zamboangita, Siaton, and Catalina.
