‘Vice President Jejomar C. Binay has pledged on Monday to prioritize poverty alleviation and uplifting the lives of Filipinos, particularly in Negros Oriental which is considered the poorest province in Central Visayas under his administration.

Negros Oriental has a poverty incidence of 43.9 percent, according to the National Anti-Poverty Commission. The Vice President is currently visiting the province.

Binay said his administration will continue the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) and improve it to ensure better and efficient services.

Around 71,537 families in the province are beneficiaries of the 4Ps program.

While in Negros, Binay visited the Ong Che Tee Bacong High School. He also met with sectoral groups, senior citizens and residents of Dauin, Zamboangita, Siaton, and Catalina.
