• Binay files COC, vows to fight for the poor

Vice President Jejomar Binay was among the first candidates who filed their Certificates of Candidacy (COC) at the Commission on Elections main office in Intramuros, Manila Monday.
He vowed to fight for the poor if he will be victorious in the presidential race next year.
In a statement, Binay said that all administrations seem to have forgotten their true mandate, which is to address the needs of the downtrodden.
There is no sense in progress if it does not include the poor sector of society, the Vice President added.
“Ito ang dapat pagtuunan ng pamahalaan. Ito ang aking pagtutuunan kapag ako ay mahalal bilang pangulo ng bans (This should be the focus of government. This will be my priority)”, Binay said.
In his 29 years of public service, Binay said his guiding principle had always been to serve the poor and the needy.
He lamented that millions of Filipinos are still stuck in poverty, and many lack access to education and other social services.
And yet despite the lack of opportunities, many Filipinos strive to provide for their families, Binay said.
“Matibay ang kanilang pananalig. Sila ang aking inspirasyon. Sila ang aking ipaglalaban at paglilingkuran (They keep the faith. They are my inspiration. It is them that I will serve and fight for),” he added.
“Sa tulong ng Poong Maykapal, sa suporta ng taumbayan, at sa pagkakaisa nating lahat, sisimulan natin ang pagtahak ng landas tungo sa tunay na pagbabago na mag-aangat at magpapaginhawa ng buhay ng bawat Pilipino (With God’s help and with the support of the people, we will start on the path of real change that will uplift the lives of all Filipinos),” Binay said.
