Vice President Jejomar Binay on Tuesday was recognized as one of the University of the Philippines Preparatory High School’s three lifetime achievement awardees during the celebration of its 60th foundation anniversary.
Alumnus.
Joining Binay as fellow awardees were Felipe Gozon and Dr. Baldomero Olivera who are both members of UP Prep’s Class of 1956. Gozon is now head of multimedia conglomerate GMA Network Inc. while Olivera has gained international recognition in the fields of biochemistry and neuroscience.
In his speech, Binay said UP Prep distinguished itself from other high schools through its faculty of intelligent and dedicated individuals. He also noted how UP Prep’s administrators and faculty selected only the students with the mental, psychological and physical capability to cope with UP Prep’s rigorous academic work.
That we were the best of the best, and that we had the best teachers,” he added.
Binay also said that he always believed in education as the great equalizer and that UP Prep taught him to pursue different learning experiences.
