Vice President Jejomar Binay admitted on Thursday that he was offended by the Senate blue ribbon committee’s investigation of allegations that the parking building beside the Makati City Hall was overpriced.

“I may sound like a hypocrite if I told you that I wasn’t offended,” Binay told reporters.
The Vice President said he was saddened because of the politicking at the Senate, noting that the inquiry was rooted in his plan to run for President in 2016.

“Nalulungkot ako. Sabagay, tinanggap naman ng isang senador na kaya ito ay iniimbestiga nila ay dahil sa ako ay kandidatong presidente. Wow, kitang-kita mo naman talaga ang political motive nito [I am sad. One senator admitted that they are investigating because I am a presidential candidate. Wow, the political motive is so obvious],” Binay added.

Senator Antonio Trillanes 4th filed Senate Resolution 826 urging his fellow lawmakers to investigate the allegedly overpriced building.

Renato Bondal, who lost to Makati Mayor Jejomar Erwin Binay in the May 2013 elections, on Wednesday accused the Vice President and the incumbent mayor of splitting into five contracts the alleged overpriced “park building.” Bondal has claimed that the building was overpriced by P2 billion.

The Vice President said he is considering attending the Senate inquiry.

His daughter, Sen. Nancy Binay, said the Senate is being used by their political rivals.

“It appears that we allowed the Senate to provide our local rival in politics a forum or venue for name-calling,” she added.

The senator said she had no complaints about the way Sen. Aquilino Pimentel 3rd handled the hearing but that the other senators showed their biases.

    1. I’ve been hearing for a long time now that this guy is up to no good. I hope he goes to jail along with the 3 corrupt senators. God bless the Senators who are probing his corruption case right now!

    2. Trillanes was real attack dog of Mar Roxas. In spite of technical report of COA that was presented during the hearing, Trillanes was quick to response that the COA technical team were not competent even without talking or asking them. The same is true with COA chair Grace Pulido Tan in casting doubt to her technical team findings. These are the brand of politics now of Drlilon senate investigate a case already filed in the ombudsman when in fact the end result of the inquiry if ever will be to recommend filing of case. This is how we waste time and monies the senate style.

A great opportunity to earn voters support next election by proving you and your children holding position of public trust can really be trusted.

    4. Trillanes and Cayetano are so absorbed in their ambition to run in 2016 as if even all the pigs and farm animals in the country would vote for them if these animals were enfranchised. These two idiots should stop hallucinating and using the Senate for their selfish interests. There’s just a lot of literally psychologically-challenged people in government, from Noynoy to Lourdes Sereno to numerous Senators and Congressmen. The Philippines is one asylum run by the insane.
