VICE President Jejomar Binay is scheduled to fly to China to personally bring the letter of the government to appeal for the suspension of the execution of a Filipina convicted for carrying drugs .
Binay, who is the Presidential Adviser on Overseas Filipino (OFWs) concerns said he was directed by President Benigno Aquino 3rd on Friday to bring the letter to the Chinese government.
“So I will be bringing that letter hand carried to the government of China,” he added.
He expressed high hope that appealing personally might give bigger chances for China to heed to the government’s appeal.
“Baka sakali pakikinggan tayo, sana huwag nang ma execute ang ating kababayan (We are hoping that our appeal might be granted, We hope that the execution will be defered),” he added.
Binay said he is likely to leave for China on Saturday. This is the second time the vice president personally delivers the letter of the President to China appealing for the deferment of the execution of Filipinos.
The 35-year-old Filipina, who has not been named, was caught carrying over six kilos of heroin to China in 2011.
Foreign Affairs spokesperson Raul Hernandez earlier said the Filipina may be executed between June 27 to July 2.
