Vice President Jejomar Binay on Thursday said he hopes the United States government will grant Temporary Protection Status (TPS) to Filipinos working in the US who were or have relatives affected by Supert Typhoon Yolanda.

“This humanitarian act will further cement and deepen the friendship between Filipinos and Americans. As Presidential Adviser on Overseas Filipino Workers’ Concerns, I pray that the US government will grant our request as an affirmation of our two nations’ partnership,” Binay said in his message on Fil-American Friendship Day, which coincides with the US’ Fourth of July celebration.
