VICE President Jejomar Binay pledged to protect the rights of workers and to look after their welfare if he is elected president.
Binay, who served as lawyer for labor unions during martial law, paid tribute to public and private workers on the eve of Labor Day.
“Kinikilala natin ang mga manggagawang Pilipino bilang matibay na haligi ng ating lipunan.Katuwang sila sa anumang pagsulong ng ating bansa [We recognize the Filipino workers as a sturdy pillar of our society. They are partners in the progress of our country],” he said.
“Bilang pasasalamat sa kanilang mahalagang ambag sa lipunan, dapat lang pangalagaan ng pamahalaan ang kanilang mga karapatan at isulong ang kanilang kapakanan [In gratitude for their valuable contributions to society, it is but fitting for the government to safeguard their rights and advance their welfare],” he added.
Binay vowed to uphold the rights and welfare of Filipinos working here or abroad.
“Pangarap ng lahat ang pagkakaroon ng disenteng trabaho at kabuhayan tungo sa sigurado at maginhawang bukas [It is everyone’s dream to have a decent livelihood and a comfortable future],” he said.
“Sa ilalim ng aking pamamahala, makasisiguro ang ating mamamayan na may gobyerno silang masasandalan sa panahon ng pangangailangan. Makasisiguro sila na may pamahalaang kakalinga sa kanila para sila’y magkaroon ng permanente at de-kalidad na trabaho na siyang magbibigay-daan para mapabuti ang kanilang buhay [Under my administation, our people are assured of a government that they can depend on in times of need. They can be certain that the government will take ensure that they will have a permanent, quality job that will advance their quality of life],” he added.
The United Nationalist Alliance presidential candidate stressed the need for Filipinos to choose leaders who have a proven track record and capability to lead, and are compassionate, especially to the poor.
“Ang pagtahak tungo sa kaunlaran ay isang patuloy na mithiin. Mahalagang bahagi ng paglago ng ekonomiya ay nakasalalay sa pagpili natin ng karapat-dapat na lingkod bayan na may malawak na karanasan, may napatunayang kakayahan, at may malasakit sa mahihirap, kababaihan, matatanda at may kapansanan [Achieving progress is a continuing process. Choosing a leader who is rich in experience, proven ability, and concern for the poor, women, elderly and handicapped is a key element is a vital element in attaining economic development],” he said.
“Huwag nating ipagsapalaran ang kinabukasan ng ating bansa sa walang katiyakan. Mamili nang nararapat habang patuloy na pairalin ang pagkakaisa, malasakit sa kapwa at pagmamahal sa bayan [Let us not risk the future of our country on uncertainty. Let’s make the proper choices while ensuring unity, concern for our countrymen and love for our country],” he added.
