BIR ASKS TAXPAYERS TO FILE ITRS ON TIME TO AVOID FINES

TO avoid any penalty, taxpayers should file their income tax returns (ITR) on or before the April 15 deadline, according to the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR). BIR Commissioner Kim Jacinto-Henares on Tuesday appealed to tax payers to file their ITR correctly and on time so as to avoid any fines and long queues. “I would like to call everyone to prepare whatever you need to prepare so that you can file your ITR as soon as possible. The April 15 deadline will be crowded, it will be hot,” Henares said during the agency’s tax campaign kick-off in Makati City. In filing ITRs early, Henares said tax payers could still correct any mistakes they committed in their documents.
