BIR lauds three trustworthy guards

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) lauded its three honest security guards who returned recovered items to owners.

In a statement, the tax bureau said that three Lockheed Security Guards on detail with the BIR returned recovered items to their respective owners in separate occasions.

The security guards were identified as Jade Vargas, Wilbert Flores, and lady guard Floriza Amado.

The BIR said that Vargas, while on duty as a general roving guard on June 5, recovered a white envelope containing P35,300 in various denominations, a cellular phone and an official receipt.

The recovered items were turned over to the Internal Investigation Division (IID) through Lockheed Detachment Commander Maj. Melanio Layugan (Ret.) and promptly returned on the same date to the rightful owner Alexander Ponay.

Meanwhile, Flores recovered a stainless bracelet along the driveway at the north gate during the flag-raising ceremony on June 3.

He turned over the same to Layugan who returned the bracelet to owner Rhodora Ramirez of the General Services Division.

On the other hand, lady guard Amado found a wallet containing cash and other pertinent documents at the BIR Main Lobby Information area left behind by lawyer Clinton Laudencia on May 30.

“These watchmen should be commended for their honesty and dedication to duty. They should be emulated for what they have done,” a BIR official said.

The bureau announced that the honest guards were honored in simple rites at the IID on June 7 and were given certificates of recognition citing their honesty and dedication to duty.
