A Church leader has expressed apprehension on the decision of President Rodrigo Duterte to tap again the Philippine National Police (PNP) in the government’s anti-illegal drug campaign, warning that it could lead to the resurgence of arbitrary killings of suspected drug pushers and drug users.

Manila Auxiliary Bishop Broderick Pabillo, chairman, Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP)-Episcopal Commission on the Laity, over the weekend said the drug war is better left to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), which has the proven expertise to handle the country’s drug problem.
