BISHOP URGES AQUINO TO STOP CAGAYAN BLACK SAND MINING

TUGUEGARAO CITY: Archbishop Sergio Utleg, Cagayan Valley’s highest Catholic prelate, has appealed to President Benigno Aquino 3rd to revoke all permits which allow the extraction of black sand along the shorelines of northern Cagayan province. “I am appealing to the President to once and for all dismantle black sand mining projects in Cagayan whose operations only results in the destruction of the environment and threatening lives of local residents and the fishing community,” Utleg said.
