• Bishops support common ID for OFWs

BALANGA CITY, Bataan: The Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines – Episcopal Commission on Migrants and Itinerant People (CBCP–ECMI) has expressed full support to the issuance of I-DoLE identification cards (ID) to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs). “We recommend to our OFWs to avail of them. We appreciate the caring efforts and concerns of the Department of Labor and Employment to give the best for our overseas workers,” Bishop Ruperto Santos, CBCP–ECMI chairman, said. He pointed out that the I-DoLE ID card is beneficial and would spare the OFWs from long lines, long travel time and bureaucratic inefficiency in securing Overseas Employment Certificates. “If it [ID card] could serve as their passport in their transactions with government agencies, it is truly very useful and helpful to the OFWs. We endorse it,” Santos added.
