Blazers, Knights notch wins in FilOil Flying V tilt

National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) teams College of Saint Benilde Blazers and Colegio de San Juan de Letran Knights beat their separate foes in the FilOil Flying V pre-season collegiate basketball tournament at the San Juan Arena on Wednesday.

Rey Nambatac led Letran in thumping the Adamson University Soaring Falcons, 78-73.

The Soaring Falcons were leading going into the final quarter but Namatac’s offensive game propelled the Knights to clinch a win with 30 points out of a 50 percent shooting performance from beyond the arc.

Jonathan Grey led Saint Benilde in dominating the Far Eastern University Tamaraws 70-48, to book their second win in the tilt.

The Blazers gained the upper hand right from the get-go, denying the Tamaraws of any chance to turn the table in the duration of the match. Grey capped off his stellar performance against their UAAP adversary by finishing with 23 points and five rebounds.
