Blazers stake hold of solo third spot

The College of Saint Benilde (CSB) Blazers will stake their hold of the solo third spot when they face the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA (UPHSD) Altas today in the 90th National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) seniors basketball tournament elimination round at The Arena in San Juan City.

The Blazers are carrying a 10-5 win-loss record while the Altas, at 10-6, are just half a game behind in a tie from fourth to fifth positions with the Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers.

A win by the Blazers at 4 p.m. would enable them to move closer to second front running Arellano University Chiefs carrying a 12-4 record. Four-peat champions San Beda College Red Lions remain on top with 13-4 card. But a loss by coach Gabby Velasco’s team would allow the Altas to take over the third spot while the Blazers would drop to a tie with the Heavy Bombers at the fourth to fifth spots.

In the high school division, the CSB Greenies seek for their 10th win in 16 matches as they battle the UPHSD Altalettes at 2 p.m.
