ATENEO De Manila University eyes a Final Four berth today when it plays winless Adamson University in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 77 men’s basketball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The Blue Eagles are expected to remain cautious when they deal against the Soaring Falcons in the 2 p.m. Defending champion De La Salle University collides with University of Santo Tomas at 4 p.m.
Hotshot guard Kiefer Ravena, who scored 18 points in Ateneo’s last game against University of the Philippines (UP), is expected to lead the Blue Eagles together with rookie Arvin Tolentino, Chris Newsome and Nico Elorde.
Ateneo mentor Bo Perasol said they should learned their lesson after a 70-69 decision against UP that also provided them a 9-3 win-loss record.
A win by Ateneo will keep them the solo second spot and a seat in the semifinals.
Adamson, for its part, remains struggling this season without a single win in 12 games.
Don Trollano and Jensen Rios, who scored 20 and 16 points, respectively, in a recent loss to Far Eastern University, are both desperate to put the Falcons to win column.
The Green Archers, who sport an 8-3 win-loss card, will bank on Jeron Teng, Almond Vosotros, Jason Perkins and Arnold Van Opstal to intensify their Final Four campaign in the second round.
UST, for its part, needs a morale boosting win to keep its Final Four bid alive.
