BMW in the Philippines has added a new model to its line of X-Series vehicles—X1, X3. X5 and X6—as local distributor Asian Carmakers Corp. (ACC), introduced the all-new X4.
Unveiled at the recent 5th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS), the second of the carmaker’s “Sport Activity Coupe” (after the X6) is based on the “technical blueprint” of the X3, according to BMW. Likely, that means the X3 and X4 share key chassis and powertrain components.
ACC launched two diesel-powered variants of the X4; the xDrive 20D and xDrive 30D. Both are equipped with BMW’s TwinPower Turbo and an eight-speed Steptronic transmission.
The X4 xDrive 20D has a 2.0-liter engine that produces 190hp and 400Nm of torque. It is rated to consume 5.2 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers. The car is priced at P4.790 million.
The X4 xDrive 30D is fitted with a 3.0-liter engine that makes 258hp and 560Nm of torque, with a fuel consumption rating of 5.9 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers. The variant costs P5.990 million.
BMW calls the X4 a “perfect blend” of its “hallmark features, combining both lifestyle and performance.” It added the model “merges the quintessential power of the X Series with the elegant aesthetics of a classic coupe.”
The X4 is distinct from the X3, with a “sporting character of its own,” according to BMW. In front the car is marked by large air intakes, character lines and twin xenon headlights and LED fog lamps. Under its sheet metal is a choice of high-performance engines, BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system and a spread of standard equipment features such as variable sport steering, the Performance Control package and a leather steering wheel with gearshift paddles.
ACC at PIMS also released the upgraded X3, which received a host improvements in terms of styling, equipment level and engine efficiency.
“With the introduction of the BMW X4 Sport Activity Coupe and the refreshed BMW X3, we aim to further enhance BMW’s leadership and redefine the landscape in the luxury mid-size SUV segment,” said ACC President Maricar Parco.
Displayed alongside the new X3 and X4 at ACC’s motor show booth were the limited edition X1 sDrive 18d M Sport, X5 xDrive 30d M Sport and X6.
