The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation 2015 National Organizing Committee (APEC-NOC) last week accepted a sponsored fleet of BMW vehicles from Asian Carmakers Corporation (ACC), the official importer and distributor of BMW in the Philippines, during a symbolic ceremony held at the Kalayaan Hall of the Malacañan Palace. ACC president Maricar Cristobal-Parco and the APEC-NOC, led by Executive Secretary Paquito “Jojo” Ochoa, were among those in attendance.
As the official premium mobility partner of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meetings, BMW is set to provide over 200 units of the BMW 7 Series long-wheelbase sedan and BMW 5 Series in sedan and Gran Turismo forms to serve as mobility shuttles for world leaders and APEC dignitaries throughout the international forum.
“BMW is honored to play an integral part in the APEC 2015 Summit as its official premium mobility partner. We applaud the Philippine government for taking the lead in working towards the creation of one integrated Asia-Pacific economic community,” said Parco.
She added the formal turnover of the fleet reinforces the brand’s commitment to fostering the economic growth and development not only of the Philippines, but the entire region.
BMW was named the official premium mobility partner of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meetings in May 2014, through the signing of a signing of a memorandum of agreement between the national government and the German premium carmaker.
The APEC 2015 Summit will include a series of meetings on trade and investment liberalization, business facilitation, and economic and technical cooperation in select venues within Metro Manila and the Visayas region. The ministerial meetings will see world leaders, industry experts, and representatives from the private sector come together to improve the economic landscape by addressing opportunities and challenges in Asia-Pacific.
