BOC OFFICIALS UNFAZED BY CRIMINAL, ADMINISTRATIVE CHARGES

OFFICIALS of the Bureau of Customs (BOC) remained unfazed despite criminal and administrative charges filed against them by the owners of Starcraft International Trading Corp. and Bold Bidder Marketing and General Merchandise—the second and third largest rice importers in the country in 2013, respectively. Customs chief John Sevilla said the cases filed against them are just attempts of intimidating BOC officials to deter them from doing their jobs. He added that the BOC will instead intensify their efforts to curb smuggling cases in the country and “to step-up the fight” against erring importers. “We assure the public that this will not distract us from performing our duty to fight smuggling,” he said.
