The Bureau of Customs (BOC) seized some six containers of illegal fireworks in Bulacan worth P24 million.

BOC Deputy Commissioner for Intelligence Jessie Dellosa, who inspected the warehouse of the fireworks, said they were reportedly from China.

Dellosa added that they were able to find the location of the fireworks after receiving information of the illegal contrabands.

“We suspect that the fireworks were made in Bulacan and repacked in China,” he said.

The BOC official believes that labelling it “made in Bulacan” is the smugglers way of deceiving the public so it would appear to be legal.

However, Dellosa said that they cannot locate the shipper.

The BOC started its operation in the area on December 13, Dellosa added.

Citing whether the consignees of the products are fake or not, the deputy chief said that the BOC refuses to divulge further information pending the results of the investigation.
