BOC seizes smuggled onions, garlic


At least three 40-foot container vans of onions and garlic with a declared value of $21,765 or P971,000 that was illegally imported from China were seized by the Bureau of Customs (BOC) through their Enforcement and Security Service (ESS) on Friday. Out of the three container vans, two of them were apprehended at the Customs gate as the importer attempted to take them out of the Manila International Container Port on February 19. The three container vans have a net weight of 34,770 kilograms had arrived from China on February 18, which were shipped by a Jangsu Shungan Trading and consigned to GAC Santos Agricultural Products Enterprise.
