BOC set to acquire sniffing dogs vs. drugs

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has proposed the acquisition of sniffing dogs to be deployed at the Manila International Con–tainer Ports (MICP), the Port of Manila (POM) and the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) as part of the bureau’s long-term drive against illegal drugs imported to the country.

Jessie Dellosa, BOC deputy commissioner for the intelligence group, said the bureau will monitor the entry of illegal drugs with the help of the sniffing dogs.

Dellosa added that the BOC will forge an agreement with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) “if they can provide the dogs.”

The BOC will be the one to provide the PCG  with dog handlers, he said.
