A total of 286 workers affected by the 7.2-magnitude earthquake in Bohol province stands to gain from the P732,152.40 financial assistance of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
DOLE Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz said that the financial assistance was taken from the Integrated Livelihood Program of the agency to be given directly to five workers’ organization in helping them to rebuild their livelihood.
Baldoz with the government officials in Bohol handed five checks to the five recipients—Gotozon Balsa Performers’ Association of Loboc, Bohol with 92 members received P269, 402; Anda Senior Citizens Association of Poblacion, Anda, Bohol with 76 members received P118,400; Lundag Farmers Association, also in Anda, Bohol received P106, 500; Anda Overseas Filipino Workers Returnees and Beneficiaries Association received P100,000 for its malunggay kropek business, with 41 beneficiaries.
The Baucan Norte Farmers Association, in Balilihan, Bohol received P137, 850 for its dairy goat-raising enterprise.
The association has 39 members, 25 of whom are men and 14 are women.
In 2013, the DOLE released P1.098 million for the restoration of the livelihood enterprises of eight workers’ associations with a total membership of 360 worker-beneficiaries.
