A BOMB threat, which turned out to be a hoax, disrupted work at the Makati City Hall on Tuesday morning. Richie Rodriguez, head of the city’s Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, said a switchboard operator at 9:56 a.m. received a call from “an unidentified person with husky voice” who said employees should immediately leave City Hall because a bomb will explode anytime soon. Mayor Mar-Len Abigail Binay immediately ordered employees to vacate their offices, while the Southern Police District (SPD) police and rescue teams inspected all floors of the high-rise building. Senior Supt. Tomas Apolinario, acting SPD director, in a text message to members of the media said “the Makati City Hall bomb threat was already cleared and considered as a hoax.” Business at City Hall returned to normal operations at 11 a.m. Several bomb scares hit Metro Manila after a deadly explosion at the Davao City night market last Friday.
