Bomb threats cause panic at QC City Hall

THOUSANDS of Quezon City government employees on Thursday panicked after several offices received bomb threats before 8 a.m., prompting Mayor Herbert Bautista to order tightened security at the City Hall compound. The Public Affairs and Information Services Office said unknown calls were received by staffs of the local office of the Department of the Interior and Local Government, Register of Deeds, City Civil Registry Department and City Public Affairs Office, with the callers saying that bombs were placed in the offices. A search by Quezon City Police District Explosives Ordnance Disposal teams turned out negative. Operations at City Hall were back to normal shortly before 9 a.m.
