AMAS, Kidapawan City: Authorities are tracking down three high-risk detainees, including a bombing suspect, who escaped from North Cotabato provincial reformatory facility at dawn on Wednesday.
The bombing suspect was identified as Esmael Nasser, alias Derbi, who is facing illegal possession of explosives case, after his arrest in November last year.
Nasser was also tagged in a series of killings and bombing incidents in the town of Kabacan, including the death of former Kabacan Vice Mayor Policarpio Dulay on January 10, 2013.
The two other escapees were identified as Mama Mandagia Makalati, alias Marco, and Ting Puti Mustapa who are facing illegal drugs and car-theft charges.
Senior Supt. Emmanuel Peralta, Cotabato provincial police director, said the fugitives escaped to a forested area in nearby Barangay Patadon at about 4 a.m. after sawing off the steel bars at the back of the jail.
North Cotabato Gov. Emmylou Talino-Mendoza ordered a thorough investigation of the escape of three high-risk inmates.
Police and anti-drug operatives last month found sachets of shabu and deadly weapons in a surprise inspection of the jail.
