Bombing attempt in Maguindanao foiled by government troops

Government authorities foiled a bombing attempt Friday night in Sharrif Aguak, Maguindanao.
The foiled bombing was confirmed on Saturday by Maguindanao police chief Sr. Supt. Rodelio Jocson.
Jocson said that a team from the Explosive and Ordnance Disposal (EOD) recovered an improvised explosive device (IED) in front of the Sharrif Aguak municipal hall at around 8 p.m.

The bomb was hidden in a baggage left by unidentified man, Joson said.
Col. Jener del Rosario said the IED was safely detonated by their troops.

No group has claimed responsibility for the incident, but the device was found a few hours after the government troops discovered an arms cache of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) and arrested one of its members in Rajah Buayan.
