Rey Apolonio, town police chief, said that they received a call from barangay chairman Renato Sarmiento telling them about the explosives found at the compound of a certain Francisca Dizon, 54, of the said barangay.

Apolonio said that Dizon told police she hired a certain Paulino Pineda to dig a pit for garbage when he accidentally hit the explosives, prompting him to report the matter to the owner who eventually reported the discovered explosives to the barangay officials.

He also said that when they forwarded the message to Camp Macabulos, Tarlac police provincial director Senior Supt Alex Sintin immediately asked the assistance of Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team at the Northern Luzon Command (Nolcom) in Camp Aquino.

Sintin said that the EOD team led by Capt. Joyner Gascon examined the recovered unexploded ordnance and safely brought the bombs to Nolcom.

Apolonio said that handling explosives is dangerous.

Thus, he warned the public that in case they discover any kind of suspected bomb in their area, they have to report it immediately to the authorities to avoid casualty and damage to property. PNA
