    Get a piece of Britain as the British Embassy Manila and its partners share the best of British business and culture with Filipinos through the return of its Great campaign offering seven months of exciting events.

    Now on its third season, Great will highlight fashion, food, music, sport, education and other aspects of Britain via trade missions, competitions galore, road shows, and other surprises.

    “We have seen a surge of interest in British cars, fashion brands and food and drink products in the Philippines. More people are experiencing world-class British creativity, innovation and heritage. More Filipinos are visiting the UK than ever for business, to study, or to go on holiday,” announced British Ambassador Asif Ahmad to the Philippines in a press statement.

    “If you can’t come to Britain right now, let us come to you. There’s more of Britain than ever in the Philippines and we want to share our creativity, innovation and heritage,” he added.

    The ambassador also shared that on its latest season, Great will highlight the latest James Bond movie, Spectre, and celebrate 400 years of William Shakespeare who is known as The Bard.

    “We are joining the launch of the next James Bond movie, Spectre. We are also celebrating the life and wonder of Shakespeare. There will be fashion, music, film, food, drink and much more,” he said.

    The diplomat also advised to watch out for social media contests throughout the year and asked Filipinos to follow the British Embassy Manila on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter including his very own handle, @asifaahmad.

    The campaign officially kicks off with the “Sport is Great: Rugby World Cup” event on September 19 at the NOMADS Sports Club in Parañaque. There, guests will their favorite Philippine Volcanoes and cheer on the teams representing England, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, Japan, United States, and Wales while sampling good food and drink. It will be a fun-filled day for kids and adults alike. Admission is free.

    Come October, the festival gets in to top gear with a Bond-themed UK-Philippine Friendship Day. Happening on 20 October at Makati Shangri-la, there guests will love the sleek Aston Martin and Jaguar cars and enjoy Macallan whisky at the open bar. Tickets are available now.

    Shopaholics and fashionistas will get a chance in November to win a trip to the UK by joining the Great British Shopping Contest starting, with over 30 participating British brands in outlets all over Metro Manila and selected provinces. The perfect excuse to begin your Christmas shopping.

    Finally come February of next year, the Great British Festival is coming back bigger and better with a three-day bash in Bonifacio High Street between February 26 to 28 presenting the best that Britain has to offer.

    The Great campaign is lead by the British Embassy Manila including UK Trade & Investment and our partners, the British Council Philippines, British Chamber of Commerce Philippines and the British Alumni Association.
