ILOILO CITY: Malaysian tourists in the Philippines are growing leaps and bounds with Boracay as their most favored destination in Western Visayas. Department of Tourism Regional Director Helen Catalbas said Aklan and Boracay remain the top destination for Malaysians with 5,477 in 2013 to a flourishing 19,600 in 2014. Bacolod City comes second with 107 Malaysian arrivals and Negros Occidental with 70 tourist arrivals. The numbers are expected to increase significantly after the final reports from the six provinces and two highly-urbanized cities are received by DOT Region VI. Malaysia recorded the highest growth rate in the tourist arrivals to the Philippines for the first nine months of 2014 at 22.84 percent or 99,1867. 1. It is good that many Malaysians and Egyptians (and also Lebanese and even Saudis) do not listen to imams. At least, that is what Pilipinas wants to happen with this imam who gave a recent fatwa against visiting Pilipinas, Japan, Thailand, USA, England and other lands of infidels.
