Boutique owner sued for selling fake bags

The owner of Penderie Boutique in Quezon City was charged with estafa (a form of swindling) for selling fake Hermes bags amounting to more than P8 million to one of her customers. Assistant City Prosecutor Ralph Michael Cataquiz said he found enough grounds to file the case before the Regional Trial Court after officers from Hermes Birkin bags in France certified that 14 out of the 16 bags bought from the shop are fake. The French firm also clarified that only two bags, with a value of P1.48 million, is considered genuine. Cataquiz ruled that accused Kristine Marjorie dela Cruz could not hide under the alibi that her boutique still did not exist at the time that the bags were reportedly bought. He added that Cruz has defrauded complainant Yolande Sze of P8.595 million.
