Boy, 12, stabbed 12 times, survives

A 12-year-old boy survived after being stabbed 12 times by a suspected drug user on Sunday evening in Tondo district, Manila.

The boy was brought to Jose Reyes Memorial Hospital in Santa Cruz district where he was still under observation at press time.

The victim, a Grade 7 pupil and resident of Prudencia Street in Tondo, told investigators that the attack took place at 8 p.m. on Sunday along Prudencia Street and Coral Street.

He said he had also told the suspect, “Kuya, sabog ka na naman [Big brother, you are again high on drugs].“

The apparent joke angered the suspect, who attacked the boy with a knife.

The suspect was known in the area as Cairo Reyes but the police were validating his identity.
