• Boy killed after being sideswiped by a motorcycle


    A FOUR-year old was killed late on Monday afternoon after he was sideswiped by a motorcycle in a remote village in San Luis town, Agusan del Sur province, police reports said on Wednesday.

    Reports reaching the Philippine National Police national operations center in Camp Crame identified the victim as John Carl Gallentes, a resident of Purok 1, Barangay Don Alejandro of the said municipality.

    Reports said that the young boy was walking along the provincial road at about 6 p.m. on Monday when a motorcycle, with an extended steel carrier and driven by a certain Ariel Sonogdanan, sideswiped him.

    Reports added that the boy slammed his head on the concrete road and was declared dead on arrival at the Talacogon District Hospital where he was rushed by his father after the said incident.

    Sonogdanan voluntarily surrendered to barangay officials and was turn over to the custody of the San Luis Municipal Police Station for proper disposition, the reports said. ANTHONY VARGAS
