LOS ANGELES—Brad Pitt has been cleared after an investigation into whether he behaved abusively toward one of his children, US media has reported.

The claims centered on an alleged incident with his 15-year-old son Maddox in September on a flight from France.

Pitt’s wife Angelina Jolie had said that Pitt intentionally hit his son, without justification, on the plane, the celebrity website TMZ reported.

Social workers interviewed the couple, their children and witnesses who were on the plane, TMZ said.

The Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services concluded Wednesday that Pitt, 52, did not behave abusively, USA Today and CNN reported, quoting a source that had seen the agency’s report.

Jolie, 41, filed for divorce in September, citing irreconcilable differences. She is seeking sole custody of their six children.

Pitt is seeking joint legal and physical custody of their six children Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and 8-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne. Maddox was adopted by Jolie from Cambodia in 2002 when before she met Pitt on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith in 2005. She also adopted Zahara from Ethiopia as a single parent, but adopted Pax from Vietnam together with Pitt, in between having their biological children Shiloh and the twins.

The A-listers—given the celebrity moniker “Brangelina”—wed in France two years ago, granting all six children the surname Jolie-Pitt.

The same day the Children and Family Services report came out, Pitt was seen publicly in the evening at the red carpet premiere of his World War 2 drama Allied, looking dashing as people.com observed. He had kept a low profile ever since news of Brangelina’s bitter end shocked the world.

Allied, which opens in the US on November 23, also stars French actress Marion Cotillard, who was thought to be the reason for the couple’s breakup. Cotillard quickly put malicious rumors to an end by posting a pointed message on Instagram where she declared she is very much in love with her long time partner French actor Gulliame Canet, and in fact carrying their second child. Indeed she showed a baby bump at Wednesday night’s premiere.
