Fresh from his split decision win over Juan Manuel Marquez, World Boxing Organization welterweight champion Timothy Bradley is calling out Manny Pacquiao for a rematch should Pacman win in his November 24 comeback fight against Mexican American brawler Brandon Rios.
Bradley, who got the better end of a dubious split decision over Pacquiao to wrest the Filipino boxing hero’s 147-pound title on June 9, 2006, said he wants a clear win against Pacquiao in a rematch to erase any doubts in people’s mind.
“I hope Pacquiao wins and I hope he calls my name,” Bradley said in an interview with Jenna Jay in the latest edition of “On the Ropes” Boxing Radio, a podcast of which was posted on the program’s website.
“I want the Pacquiao fight [so]I can move on,” Bradley said, admitting that he is displeased by persistent talks that he did not deserve the victory he got over Pacman, in a match. most boxing scribes and fans Pacquiao clearly won.
“It bothers me that majority of the people think I lost, so I want to fight him again. Then I can move forward, said Bradley who remains unbeaten in 32 professional fights.
Bradley hinted that he would be willing to fight Pacquiao in Asia even as he claimed it would be tough for him to win by decision over Pacquiao a region where is universally considered a sports hero.
Bradley said it would be a different version of him when he gets to fight Pacquiao again.
“It will be war. I’m going straight at him. I’m gonna attack him,” said Bradley who many thought got well-deserved split decision win over Marquez. Marquez insists he won the fight but was robbed of the win.
Bradley, who successfully defended his 147-pound belt against Marquez last October 12, won 116-112 on one card and 115-113 on another, while a third judge had Marquez winning 115-113. This writer has Bradley winning 7 rounds to 5, or 115-113.
