Brazilian jiu-jitsu player mauls mugger

SAO PAULO: A cry for help during a mugging doesn’t sound unusual – except in this case it was the mugger begging police to save him, a Brazilian report said on Wednesday (Thursday in Manila). Two assailants jumped Monique Bastos, a jiu-jitsu and mixed martial arts enthusiast on her way to training, in Acailandia in northeastern Brazil late Tuesday, G1 news site reported. Bastos soon had one of the assailants crushed between her legs and pleading for help. “Call the police, call the police!” the half-strangled alleged robber can be heard yelling on amateur footage posted by G1, as locals mock and threaten the immobilized suspect. The other alleged robber got away with Bastos’ cellphone, G1 reported.
