At another showbiz gathering last weekend—one that had actors-turned-politicos in the merriment—the coming 2016 elections was naturally the hot topic. With both Vice President Jejomar Binay and Secretary Mar Roxas practically on the campaign trail for the presidency already, again, it was but natural that the big question was whether the only child of Philippine Movie’s King and Queen, the late Fernando Poe Jr. and Susan Roces—Sen. Grace Poe—will join the fray.

For some, it was a definite yes; for others, they think she should still wait.

What was confirmed, however, from a source very close to the Poes is that the family is 100-percent behind Sen. Grace if she decides to run.

The source quoted the senator’s 23-year-old son Brian saying, “We are aware of the sacrifices we may have to make as a family if she runs, but we won’t be the ones to stop her from achieving her dreams for this country, which she loves so much.”

More interestingly, Brian had also declared that the family would also support Sen. Francis Escudero should he decide to run, because he had been a friend, supporter and ally, not just of his mom but his grandfather FPJ when the latter ran for the presidency.

“Senator Chiz was with my mom at her lowest, when no one wanted to back her up because of her low ratings at the start of the 2013 campaign,” Brian was again quoted. “He supported Papa Ronnie (FPJ) and my mom even when it was not the popular thing to do. I think that says a lot about the character of Chiz as a person.”

With most of Brian’s revelations hardly surprising to most, the only thing that will spice up showbiz/political conversations anew is if Senators Grace and Chiz finally make their declaration.
