Top-rated prime time soap Bridges of Love held a thanksgiving party on Thursday led by Maja Salvador, Jericho Rosales and Paulo Avelino at Restaurant 9501 at ABS-CBN’s headquarters in Quezon City. The get-together celebrated the winning run of the show since March, while revealing what will be in store for viewers in its last three weeks.
Since Bridges of Love premiered on Philippine TV four months ago, the public as been captivated by the story of brothers Carlos and Gael. From the start of their journey as kids when the two dreamt big together to the tragedy that set them apart, avid fans followed how the two grew up to be very different individuals and how their paths crossed many years later without any idea of who each other were. Things heated up even more when Mia entered the picture and sparked the rivalry for love between the two.
With the show’s well-written narrative and top-caliber production, Bridges of Love consistently dominated its timeslot in national TV ratings. It is also one of the top five most watched programs in the country, according to Kantar Media. The most recent figures from July 17 peg the show’s highest national rating at 26-percent versus its rival program with only 11.2 percent.
According to directors directed by Richard Somes and Will Fredo, the final three weeks of the show will answer the questions: “How will Gael [Jericho] accept the fact that his arch enemy is his long lost brother JR [Janus del Prado]? Will Gael’s love for Mia still prevail or will he give way to his brother? Will Carlos [Paulo] ever forgive Gael for the hurt he caused him in the past?”
“It’s really going to be very exciting,” promised Maja, as she also revealed she plans to take a much-deserved break after Bridges of Love wraps up.
“Pahinga muna. Kailangan ko bumawi sa sarili ko. Ang dami kong gustong gawin ngayong taon pero wala akong time,” she related without giving away specifics about her plans.
While her career has been on the up for several years now—what with a string of top-rated soaps and movies, as well as a new and successful recording and concert performing career—she added, “Hindi naman madali ang pinagdaan ko.”
Referring to her breakup with erstwhile boyfriend Gerald Anderson over the summer, “Nadurog naman kasi ako, pero malapit na akong mabuo ulit. Malapit na ako sa tulay.”
Also present at the thanksgiving party were key cast members Carmina Villaroel and Maureen Mauricio, along with the production team.
Bridges of Love, on its last three weeks, airs after Pangako Sa’Yo, weeknights on ABS-CBN Primetime Bida.
