To celebrate the joys and pains of motherhood, award-winning director Brillante Mendoza brings his cinematic masterpiece on television via “Anak”—a gut wrenching and heartwarming episode of “Brillante Mendoza Presents,” which airs on TV5 on June 25.
The story revolves around a childless couple who decide to participate in the legendary Obando Fertility Rites to petition for a child. Mendoza reminds his viewers through the piece of the beauty and pain that entails raising a family and of what adversities childless couples are willing to endure and struggle through to fulfil their dream of bearing a child. It also highlights the Filipino’s religious fervor as reflected by strong faith and trust in miracles and divine intervention. Playing the lead roles of this episode is the real-life couple Romnick Sarmenta and Harlene Bautista in their first collaboration with the well-lauded film maker.
Anak airs on Sunday right after “Lakbai.”
