British Festival dishes up food, fashion, cars

FOOD, fashion and a car show will be the main attractions of the third Great British Festival in Manila which aims to strengthen Filipinos’ appreciation for British goods and products.

The #GreatBritishFestival will be held on February 26 to 28 on Bonifacio High Street at the Bonifacio Global City.

There will be booths and various activities at the Shakespeare Pavilion, such as Etihad Airways’ social media contest in which participants will get a chance to win round-trip tickets to the United Kingdom courtesy of Etihad Airways.

Performances of Filipino talents will be accompanied by British creativity, while a fashion show will be hosted at night with top British brands directed by Robby Carmona.

There will also be samples of British food, a chance to talk with British alumni, and fun activities such as the magic show, face painting, and musical numbers by talented British School Manila students.

British Ambassador Asif Ahmad said: “Since we started our GREAT campaign three years ago, we have had positive feedback from Filipinos. A record number have come to the Festival. More successful visa applications by tourists. We want to see more Pinoys choosing to study in the UK too.”

“The British Festival offers a small taste of all the great things that Britain offers. Join me and my Embassy team as we bring you a bigger and better British experience in Manila,” he added.

Admission to the festival is free.

“This event will be our biggest yet, involving over 70 companies with links to the UK. We’ve made sure there is something for everyone to enjoy. You’re all invited to join the festivities and see why the UK is a great place to visit, study and do business,” Ahmad said.

Organized by the British Embassy and its partners, the third British Festival in Manila is set to be the biggest showcase of British creativity, innovation, culture, heritage and knowledge that spell its success in fashion, music, sport, education and design.
