LONDON: Britain went to the polls on Thursday in a snap election to choose who will lead the country out of the European Union, after a campaign overshadowed by terror attacks.

Prime Minister Theresa May called the vote in April, when opinion poll ratings for her and her center-right Conservative party were sky high, presenting herself as the strong leader to take Britain into Brexit talks.
