Tough-talking Mayor Rodrigo Duterte has temporarily stopped his presidential campaign because of ill-health.

The mayor went home to Davao on Friday to rest after falling ill during one of his sorties in Metro Manila.

He was admitted Thursday night at the Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan after he reportedly throw up in his hotel. He was discharged Friday morning.

Following his doctors’ advice, Duterte skipped his meetings and campaign sorties due to migraine attacks after holding sorties in Tarlac, Tuguegarao, and Metro Manila.

Duterte said doctors at the hospital advised him to stay but he insisted on going home.

“Aside from migraine, bronchial infection, I have spinal issues,” Duterte told reporters at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) terminal 2 before boarding a Philippine Airlines flight PR1817 for Davao City.

Asked whether his health has affected his campaign, he replied that he will surrender if the campaign lasted two years.

“But I will tell you that I am your last card,” he said. “You can choose Roxas, then Binay or Grace Poe, but I am the only one who have the capability to eradicate criminality, fight graft and corruption and drugs.”
