Bugatti last week unveiled the Vision Gran Turismo – a bonkers, virtual creation inspired by Bugatti’s historic racing models that will only be made way into the widely-acclaimed racing game Gran Turismo 6.
The French carmaker – known for its world-beating Veyron – has partnered with Polyphony Digital, creator of the Gran Turismo racing game franchise, to design a car for the franchise that may someday make it to reality.
“Bugatti is the world’s most exclusive super sports car brand and Bugatti cars are only available to an extremely small group of automobile connoisseurs,” Bugatti president Wolfgang Dürheimer said in a statement. “At the same time, Bugatti is admired and loved by countless people throughout the world. We highly appreciate this enthusiasm. The ‘Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo’ will make our brand available to them as well as to gamers and high-performance aficionados throughout the world, only very few of whom will be able to afford a real Bugatti. They can all benefit from the success of our brand. This is a project for our fans.”
Polyphony Digital Chief Executive Officer Kazunori Yamauchi said in a statement that Bugatti has expressed enthusiasm in joining the Vision Gran Turismo project in showcasing what their dream car would be like.
“I was thrilled and surprised that such a revered, traditional brand as Bugatti shares my passion and vision for ‘Gran Turismo.’ Bugatti has developed an exciting concept for ‘Vision Gran Turismo,’ and naturally it is a high-performance vehicle with a fascinating design. The level of attention to detail shown in the technical implementation by Bugatti has really impressed me,” Yamauchi added.
Bugatti announced that they will make a 1:1 scale show car to be displayed on the Frankfurt Motor Show on September 17.
