Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu urged member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) to build sustainable cities and urban areas, noting that they could play a vital role in fight a climate change.

In his message read by DENR Undersecretary Jonas Leones during the Asean Forum on Urban Resilience to Climate Change and Disaster Risk Management Strategies held in Laoag City, Cimatu said achieving sustainable urbanization will be key to adapting to and mitigating climate change impacts.
