Bulacan cracks down on illegal activities

BULACAN: The Bulacan local government is intensifying its efforts to stop illegal gambling, drug trafficking and other outlawed activities in the province.

Bulacan Gov. Wilhelmino Sy Avarado recently ordered Senior Supt. Ferdinand Divina, Bulacan police provincial director, to conduct raids particularly on jueteng (an illegal numbers game) and drug joints, as well as night clubs that feature lewd shows.

The governor also ordered Divina to crack down on smugglers, hijackers and robbers by putting up checkpoints all over Bulacan.

Alvarado and the provincial police director warned municipal chiefs of police and other Philippine National Police who allegedly continue to protect those behind the illegal activities to stop from doing so or else face dismissal from the service.

Their campaign elicited support from Pandi Mayor Enrico Roque, president of Bulacan Mayors League, and Mayor Joan Alarilla of Meycauayan City, who launched a campaign against illegal drugs and illegal gambling in their respective municipalities.
