The Bulacan Provincial Epidemiology & Surveillance Unit (PESU) noted a 43 percent decrease in reported dengue cases in the province as compared to the same period last year. The PESU Dengue Surveillance accounted 1,319 reported dengue cases from January 1 – July 30, 2016 gathered from different Disease Reporting Units of the province consisting of the government (54 percent) and private (42 percent) hospitals, and Rural Health Units (4 percent). Further, 89 percent were admitted and 11 percent out-patient cases. Gov. Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado reminded the Bulakenyos not to be complacent but continue cleaning their surroundings and more vigilant on dengue symptoms. Based on PESU records, areas with high number of reported dengue cases were Plaridel –152; San Miguel –141; City of San Jose del Monte – 113; City of Malolos – 99; Baliuag and Santa Maria – 90 each.
