City of Malolos, Bulacan: A total of P8-million worth of cash and relief goods was turned over by the Bulacan Gov. Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado to Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana as donation to victims of the Marawi siege during the Bulacan Day of Prayer held recently.
The cash came from the provincial government and the Bulakenyos (Bulacan residents) who personally handed their donations, as well as the P4-million worth of family packs composed of rice, noodles, canned goods, milk and other goods.
Alvarado cited the power of prayer and how it can help Filipinos achieve peace and order in the country especially in Marawi City.
Lorenzana expressed his gratitude to the people of Bulacan for the donations, which will be delivered to the Marawi evacuees.
The turnover of the donation was preceded by a candle-lighting ceremony attended by more than 5,000 Bulakenyos at the provincial capitol gymnasium for the Bulacan Day of Prayer that focused on “Peace for the Philippines” attended by presidential spokesman and Secretary Ernesto Abella and some Cabinet members.
Alvarado said the province has been doing the activity and he believes that the country can stand again amid adversaries and catastrophes because of the people’s continuous relationship with God through prayers.
