Death was instantaneous for Judge Wilfredo Nieves, whose car was peppered with bullets by two gunmen who ambushed him in Malolos city late Wednesday

Malolos City, Bulacan: A Bulacan Regional Trial Court Judge was ambushed and shot along Mac Arthur Highway late Thursday afternoon in Barangay Tikay, Malolos City, Bulacan.

Police Supt. Arwin Tadeo Malolos City police chief said Judge Wilfredo Nieves, presiding judge of Branch 84 of Bulacan RTC, died on the spot from multiple gunshot wounds in the head and body.

The judge was driving home when attacked.

The gunmen, who were on a motorcycle, immediately fled.

Investigation revealed that the men alighted from the motorcycle and shot Nieves several times at close range while the victim’s vehicle stopped on a red light sign.

It was Nieves who convicted carnap leader Raymond Dominguez in 2012. Dominguez was meted maximum imprisonment of 30 years for a 2010 carjacking case.

Bulacan Vice Governor Daniel Fernando who rushed to the crime scene condemned the killing. He said Nieves is a big loss to the judiciary.
