MALOLOS CITY: Three thousand housing units will be provided to families living along high-risk danger zones, particularly along the riverbanks in the province.
Gov. Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado of Bulacan said that, “We have prepared two sites, one is in Barangay Catacte in Bustos where 1,100 families will be relocated; and another in Barangay Cacarong Matanda in Pandi where 1,900 families will be welcomed in their new homes.”The project is part of the housing program of the Provincial Government of Bulacan (PGB) and the National Housing Authority. Also the program aims to remove houses structures that clogged waterways causing floods on the localities where it is erected.
Alvarado added that the ceremonial turnover rites will be made today (Thursday) at the Bustos Gymnasium for the 74 families as the first batch of beneficiaries to be relocated from the towns of Pulilan, Bustos and Norzagaray.
The governor explained that, “These informal settlers are living in geo-hazard areas such as along river banks, streams, waterways and canals which are prone to flood, landslides and mudslides. We would like to provide them a safe and decent housing with basic amenities like schools, livelihood programs, and a multi-purpose hall.”
Alvarado noted that the PGB had conducted necessary guidelines in the implementation of the relocation of these informal settlers.
