Filipino-German racecar driver Michele Bumgarner announced that she is aiming to join North America’s Indy Car race championship. Bumgarner is also bracing for the 2014 Pro Mazda Championship, a part of Mazda’s Road to Indy development program.
“Thanks for helping me on getting closer to my goal. I hope that this would be a long and lasting relationship,” Bumgarner said, explaining that the said program of Mazda is helpful to her entry into the global motorsports scene via the North American Indycar Championships.
Bumgarner is a 2008 Star Mazda Championship series veteran and recipient of multiple Philippine motorsports Driver of the Year plums.
“Competing in the Mazda Pro Championship under the Mazda Road to Indy is absolutely the right strategy for such talented driver like Michele,” Mazda Philippines President Steven Tan said.
Bumgarner would be leaving the country on Thursday to prepare for the last three races of the 2013 Pro Mazda series.
