Burglar gets richer by P65,000 in jewels


Three burglars took away P65,000 worth of jewelries from a resident of Village East Executive Village in Cainta, Rizal on Wednesday morning.

Victim Elena Bermas-Bernardo, 45, lost to thieves three branded wrist watches worth P45,000, a P5,000 gold necklace, a gold bracelet worth P5,000 and two rings worth P10,000.

Initial investigation from local police revealed that at around 1:30 a.m., Bernardo and her daughter-in-law were disturbed by the noise outside their house, eventually found her drawer in a mess, and learned those jewelry items were already missing.

Police, with the help of Bernardo’s husband and the subdivision’s two on-duty security guards, were able to locate the three thieves on a vacant lot beside Bernardo’s house.

After a chase, they eventually collared two chase, John Joel Perez, 28 and Darius Masangcay, 18, while a third escaped with the loot.
